Dry Eye Treatment

Dry eye disease is a common condition that occurs when your eyes do not produce enough tears, or when your tears evaporate too quickly. A healthy tear film is essential for keeping the surface of the eye lubricated, comfortable, and protected. When this balance is disrupted, it can cause irritation, inflammation, and affect your vision.

Symptoms

Dry eye symptoms can range from mild irritation to persistent discomfort and may include:

  • A burning or stinging sensation

  • Red or irritated eyes

  • A gritty feeling, as though something is in your eye

  • Watery eyes (caused by the eyes overcompensating for dryness)

  • Blurred or fluctuating vision

  • Sensitivity to light

  • Tired or heavy eyes, especially after prolonged screen use

  • Difficulty wearing contact lenses comfortably

These symptoms are often made worse by air conditioning, central heating, windy weather, or spending long periods using digital devices.

ZEST Treatment

One of the treatments we offer is ZEST (Zocular Eyelid System Treatment), an advanced in-clinic procedure designed to improve eyelid hygiene and treat the underlying causes of dry eye.

ZEST uses a natural okra-based gel to gently cleanse the eyelids and remove debris, bacteria, excess oils, and biofilm that can build up along the lash line. This deep cleaning helps unblock the meibomian glands, which produce the oily layer of your tears and play a vital role in preventing tear evaporation.

ZEST treatment may help to:

  • Improve meibomian gland function

  • Reduce inflammation around the eyelids

  • Remove debris and biofilm associated with blepharitis

  • Relieve dry eye symptoms

  • Improve tear film stability

  • Leave the eyes feeling cleaner and more comfortable

The treatment is non-invasive, comfortable, and typically takes around 15–20 minutes. Many patients notice an improvement in comfort following treatment, particularly when combined with an appropriate home care routine recommended by our clinicians.

Personalised Dry Eye Care

Dry eye is rarely the same for every patient, which is why we tailor treatment to your individual needs. Following your assessment, we may recommend a combination of ZEST treatment, preservative-free lubricating eye drops, warm compress therapy, eyelid hygiene, nutritional advice, or other evidence-based treatments to provide lasting relief.
